An Evening with Sara Macliver and Fiona Campbell.

Their highly successful Perth Cathedral concert 2 years ago drew a huge audience, prompted a standing ovation, and saw an overwhelming demand for more! Perth’s popular divas Sara Macliver and Fiona Campbell will therefore return to the Cathedral on 3 August to delight audiences once again.

Sara Macliver and Fiona Campbell share a connection that creates a magnetic energy, adding joyful sparks to their exquisite performances. Perth has watched these two local girls blossom into the extraordinarily talented and admired Soprano and Mezzo they are today - their voices complementing one another superbly across a range of styles when they perform as a duo.

“Fiona and I have had a long working relationship and, more importantly, a long standing friendship, and I think this really shows when we perform together,” said Sara Macliver. “We seem to know exactly what the other is doing - it’s quite amazing!”

Now, these two wonderful singers return to the breathtaking surrounds of St George’s Cathedral, to perform a repertoire of classical pieces, including Pergolesi's Stabat Mater, and some lighter cabaret-style songs.

“From the very first notes, the Pergolesi is spellbinding - voices pure, sustained, suspended and entwined in a way that will leave a lasting, emotional experience long after you’ve left the Cathedral,” said Fiona Campbell, who is equally excited about singing cabaret, describing it as her secret love: “If you come along to the show I’ll sing you one of my favourite songs and tell you why.”

Acclaimed musician and St George’s Concert Series Director, Dr Joseph Nolan, will accompany the singers on the Cathedral’s new $300,000 Fazioli piano, hand-picked for the venue by top pianist Mark Coughlan earlier this year.

“I can’t wait to welcome Sara and Fiona to the Cathedral again,” said Dr Nolan. “It’s so much more than superlative music making with them - there is such joy and laughter, which always shines through!”
